Flint : Rain
“Rain” sounds like it should be in the same genre as Messgram and Synsnake. Flint uses a similar hard rock, punk, and metal instrumentation but during the chorus, it sounds more like mellowcore. Something is holding back vocalist Kim In Seo from leaving this ballad rock vocal style and diving into a more aggressive posture.

L-like : Circle featuring Demian Love
I can never understand how an artist can have tens of thousands of social media followers but so few active listeners on streaming platforms. The single-focused algorithm is garbage. L-like’s single “Circle” featuring Demian Love is a weird single. Not because the music is bad, but it kind of reminds me of 1960s British rock mixed with piano lo-fi. It’s a great single but I would recommend L-like’s It’s on me more.

MEMI : M3MI
I didn’t make this connection before but MEMI‘s track “NY(f)C” sounds like Buckethead. The 24Hours guitarist finally released her first EP after a set of singles and honestly, M3MI is ok. It’s got a lot of ideas and concepts pushed together and she’s a great guitarist. With 24Hours supporting her, it sounds like an off-shoot. I can’t fault anything about the music, but not much sticks.

Hyewon Park : Take the “A” Train
Fusing jazz with other genres takes a lot of care and precision. Hyewon Park’s single is a track “written by Strayhorn and Duke Ellington about the creation of New York’s A Train.” A jazz composer by education, she’s connecting jazz and electronic music. The thing with this single is that it’s jazz 80% and electronic 20%. The system announcements happen a little too frequently and can be distracting. I think this is an exploration of electronic music and jazz more than a prominent single.
