Albums We Didn’t Review 5 : Nuclear Idiots, miro, 0 Social Campus, Eumfy, panda is freedom, Closet Yi, Salamanda, Low Hanging Fruits, Oh Heejung,

Nuclear Idiots : CYBERPUNK 1999

Nuclear Idiots are keeping rock/rap alive in 2024. For a millennial, it’s a nostalgic ride. For anyone younger, it’s a collision of sound. I applaud Nuclear Idiots for their effort on CYBERPUNK 1999. Probably the biggest surprise is “LIKE A GOLDEN DRAGON” because it sounds like RIP SLYME.

Genre: rock/rap, nu-metal

miro : Reason 4 Emotion

A laidback indie rock experience. It jumps genres a little but stays focused on miro‘s strengths. It’s polished and great for listeners who want something mellow.

Genre: indie rock, pop rock

0 Social Campus : Lost

0 Social Campus doesn’t sound like it comes from South Korea. It sounds more like music you’d hear on a college indie playlist. Like miro, it’s centered on rock but explores different genres. “Last Night On Earth” is the best song on the EP for sure and I think this would be a great direction to explore.

Genre: rock

Eumfy : Mmlang

I wonder if Eumfy took KIRARA‘s music class because she mentions her in the EP preview. Eumfy crafts electronic music. It kind of reminds me of Idiotape and Dongchan. Another electronic artist to watch.

Genre: electronic

panda is freedom : fantasy experience

There’s basically no information about panda is freedom. The music is a mixture of rock with almost chiptune-like flourishes. I think this lack of information and artist identity allowed panda is freedom to do whatever they wanted. For a debut, it’s impressive.

Genre: rock with electronic and chiptune elements

Closet Yi : Point of Hue

I like listening to Closet Yi in very specific moods. That unfortunately never matched when I needed to write about her music. She’s a producer and DJ creating interesting electronic music. On a surface level, it’s club music, but deeper down, there’s a lot of careful crafting of tones layered on each other.

Genre: electronic-circa-producer/DJ

Salamanda : In Parallel

I knew about Salamanda through different singles that showed up, but I didn’t know that it was two members until Yetsuby’s solo work press started showing up. With Salamanda, it’s kind of a hybrid of electronic music and organic nature ambiance. So it feels calming.

Genre: electronic and ambient organics

Low Hanging Fruits : Bitter Sweet

It’s been a little while since I heard Low Hanging Fruits. Bitter Sweet reminds me of early The Solutions. The pop-friendly rock will find a lot of mainstream fans and it sounds like every song is carefully crafted to create a specific response. They are one mainstream song away from blowing up.

Genre: melodic pop-friendly rock

Oh Heejung : I’m a ghost

I have been remiss in falling off listening to Oh Heejung as often as I used to. Her electronic style is unique and each release felt like another chapter in her discography. I’m a ghost sounds like an exploration of different ideas and seeing them to completion.
