Short Stuff 9 : Kim Sawol, Joyce Kwon, Yang Jin Hyun, Maegandang, 예윤 (YEYOON), Midnight Jogging Club, Tokyo Button, Sannie

Kim Sawol :  사랑해 주세요 그리고 버려요 Love Me (Or Else)

I haven’t deep-dived into Kim Sawol‘s music for a while but I always enjoyed the tracks I heard. “Love Me (Or Else)” reminds me a lot of her first album.

Joyce Kwon : Future History (Reversed)

I guess I missed the original release of Joyce Kwon‘s “Future History” and found “Future History (Reversed).” It’s obviously best to listen to the original before this reversed version but it works well in this form. A very underappreciated artist.

Yang Jin Hyun : White-Eyes Blue Dragon

Yang Jin Hyun makes music that speaks to the metal fan. But “White-Eyes Blue Dragon” will speak to fans of The Black Mages and video game rock music. You will enjoy every second.

Maegandang : Suldae Valse

It feels like more traditional Korean music and modern traditional contemporary music styles are promoted internationally. I don’t know anything about Maegandang other than it’s a great highlight of traditional instruments.

예윤 (YEYOON) : Little Dream

A standard ballad indie pop track, YEYOON adds another very “sweet” melodic single to the genre. It borders on church music to me.

Midnight Jogging Club : 1 to 10

When 10cm cemented “coffee shop” music, I wondered what could eventually replace it. Midnight Jogging Club might have found it. An upbeat indie and pop mix with a tempo that’s slightly faster than a walking pace, “1 to 10” grabs your attention and doesn’t let it go.

Tokyo Button : Nuclear Girl

When I heard “Nuclear Girl,” I heard elements of U.S. pop punk, Japanese rock, and Korean rock all mixed together. Tokyo Button leans heavily into a nostalgic sound that’s missing from music in general. It’s fun and easily digestible.

sannie : Weeping Meadow

sannie performs an ethereal folk style that’s hard to capture with words. “Weeping Meadow” feels like wind moving through a plain and pulling you with it.
