Short Stuff 12 : TILDE, Pedals on Carpet, bandi, About Paul, SarahKayaComson, koyo, Soffee, JeongSaebyeok

TILDE : Cliché

A standard melodic rock song that works as a standout playlist track or could be a good OST addition.

Pedals on Carpet : Digital Nostalgia

Like TILDE, Pedals on Carpet adds another track to the indie rock genre. It blends in well but isn’t a standout.

bandi : Spring Breeze

bandi‘s vocalist uses a high range during the intro to “Spring Breeze,” and that could deter new listeners. The meat of the single is good moody melodic rock.

About Paul : Cherry Soap

It feels like About Paul releases a single a month but realistically he’s just consistent. And that consistency is what makes “Cherry Soap” so familiar and welcoming. The indie pop and R&B tone on this single makes it the perfect Spring to Summer transition.

SarahKayaComson : Photosynthesis

I was stuck on 2021’s Canto De Amor and didn’t realize that SarahKayaComson didn’t release anything in 2022-23. “Photosynthesis” is the first 2024 single and brings all the reasons why I enjoy the music so much.

koyo : brilliant

“brilliant” is a moody, melodic indie song. For koyo, it’s an impressive debut that sounds like it has some Japanese shoegaze influences leaking through the melodies. As a debut, this is hard to beat.

Soffee : Fire

There’s not anything new in the music that Soffee composes. But she’s able to manipulate the melodies through her vocals and instrumental which makes this two-song single interesting. It’s got the potential to be even bigger.

JeongSaebyeok : Eat it up

“Eat it up” is another nice addition to indie folk rock. JeongSaebyeok crafts a nostalgic sound on the single.
