Short Stuff 80 : 1watt, SumMerSH!Rts, 6002, Papa The Cop,Old English Sheepdog, Yuna Bae, jaegyeong Lee

1watt : Tomb

It’s uncommon to find blue rock bands now. 1watt‘s first single, “Tomb,” presents a fine balance between blue rock and funk. No real surprises and instead a polished introduction.

SumMerSH!Rts : Ocean

I thought SumMerSHI!rtS would be something more aggressive, nuwave, or synth. “Ocean” is an easy-listening, jazz, and smooth contemporary music mix. It’s not a style that you hear often, though the outro sounds like the band could try out beachside indie seamlessly.

6002 : Age of Optimism

“Age of Optimism” presents a laid-back indie rock song that also mixes in pop rock guitar solos. It’s a mellow song overall with some specific high points.

Papa The Cop : Emily

Papa The Cop’s “Emily” arrives two years after their last single. It follows all the essential pieces for a melodic rock song with pop accents. It could have used a more dynamic mix though.

Old English Sheep Dog – Butcher Boy

If there was ever a band with a name and single that made me think it would be an Irish or Scottish folk band, Old English Sheep Dog win that game. The band calls itself a “post-punk revival band,” and “Butcher Boy” proves that fact.

Yuna Bae – Caution: Underjoy!

Yuna Bae’s single following Realization Factory extends the style of “Self-Elasticity Game.” “Caution’; Underjoy!” is a weird indie rock journey and “9065” is an exploration of alt-country folk.

jaegyeong Lee : Forevermore

I didn’t expect a song like “Forevermore” when I first listened to jaegyeong Lee. I expected a little more indie rock or some kind of alternative garage. But “Forevermore” is an impressive ballad and alternative contemporary experience. It’s so polished that it’s unreal. It reminds me of the first time I heard Cacophony.
