StreetWave Media presents an exclusive interview with soulful R&B / pop artist, TaniA Kyllikki located on the outskirts of London, United Kingdom. After our interview, check out the music linked below…
1. What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?
Music was in me from the moment I could speak. I knew when I was as young as two years old that music was all I wanted to do. I started writing songs by as young six. I just always had a music box playing in my head.
2. What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?
Can’t say I’m in a box of just one genre, because I’ve got within a 5 octave vocal range and I write a mix of songs and sing from Soulful R&B, Pop, Classical and even wrote some gospel songs. Really I release music that moves me. What makes any artist stand out is being their true self, not being afraid to let out all that’s inside of them. You got to love what you do and believe in the message you have. For me, I’ve always been true to the kind of artist I am. I keep it real in my lyrics, if it be about being in or out of love, abuse, things going on in the world, whatever I put out there I don’t try to fit in with the latest trend in the music business, I am just who I am.
3. If you could collaborate with ANY artist/band… Who would you choose and why?
There are many known artist’s I could name call but I’m all about good musicianship. There is so many talented artists out there who haven’t even been discovered yet. For me, If an artist music is a good fit to collaborate with, they can be up and coming known or unknown, it doesn’t matter to me. It’s all about the music for me and what sounds good, creating something special together with a lasting impression.
4. What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?
My personal opinion is, indie or major, the success of any artist is about how hard your willing to work and how good your team is. Both can achieve greatness when both is in place. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved so far as an independent artist and I have an amazing team. I’m in this for the long term. Skies the limit! Anything is possible when you have faith! God gives us all gifts to do great things with, it’s up to us to put the work in.
5. Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?
There really is no best route, one is not always better than the other. Yes, a major label has more resources to push a artist at a much faster pace. But that doesn’t mean an independent artist can’t achieve a very successful career on a major level. It’s harder and longer but not impossible. For me it’s about having the right team who knows how to bring the best out in you, has your back through all the ups and downs, if that be independent team or a Major one.
6. Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?
Each song I’ve put out to date has its own message. My releases to date have done incredibly well and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s shown me so much love with each release. But I’ll say this, I can’t say which is my best simply because there is so much of this music inside of me that is bursting to come out, I believe the best is still yet to come!
