Short Stuff 35 : Huiii, Yuna Bae, Joe Su Hyeon, Kang aru, ffpp, Tasty Shop, sucozy, SIRO, 8+acid, DANGGISIO

Huiii : BlooM

“BlooM” is an R&B track that actually has some substance behind it. It sounds like an actual performance instead of a mimicry of the genre.

Yuna Bae : Wanderers’ Day

I don’t know how but Yuna Bae made an indie rock and folk song sound like a translation of a K-pop single. It builds over each verse in a spectacular way.

Joe Su Hyeon : Shadow

A stable and engaging melodic and mellow indie track. It’s soothing and familiar.

Kang aru : The truth of my heart

It’s been quiet since Kang aru‘s first EP last year. This simple single reminds people that she’s still here with an acoustic guitar led single.

ffpp : Evergreen

ffpp sounds like an indie pop rock song you’d hear outside of South Korea. It’s not something you’d expect to hear naturally. And I think that’s why it’s so good.

Tasty Shop : RUN

I really want to know how the band decided on Tasty Shop. In terms of the music, “RUN” is the perfect mainstream indie pop track. The arrangement and polish work in both arenas.

sucozy : Comparison

sucozy returns with a faster tempo and upbeat quality on “Comparison.” It’s another good addition to his discography.

SIRO : Fly High

“Fly High” is a nice debut track by SIRO. But, there’s a little too much going on with that lead guitar to the point where it’s taking over the entire song and almost muting the rest of the band.

8+acid : Scared That Ill Miss U

“Scared That Ill Miss U” is an impressive showcase of 8+acid’s skill. This song as a first introduction goesfor the throat and makes an impact. But the chorus rhythm sounds so familiar and that distracts me a little.

DANGGISIO : Save Me

I wish I knew about DANGGISIO much earlier. They live in that melodic punk and rock world like Messgram and Synsnake but stay in the melodic world more. It’s great.
